How to Arrange a Successful Business Retreat

Too much time in the office and not enough time away from it can make employees very dull people. The antidote could be taking the staff for a retreat occasionally.



The break from the phones and faxes be a well-deserved one, the topics of discussion could be beneficial to the growth of the company and its bottom line.

Here are a few tips if you decide to take your employees on a retreat:

-Pick an off-site location. To be sure, you cannot conduct a company retreat in the conference room down the hall or even down the block. It must be a different environment from the office to get everyone out of the work mind-set.

-Have a purpose. There should be some recreation, of course, but make sure itís not all fun and games. Set an agenda and make sure you stick to it. After all, the retreat is for the betterment of the company.

-Bring along a facilitator who knows a little bit about the companyís history and culture but is far enough removed from it to be effective.

-Last, make sure you follow up on all the things discussed at the retreat. Otherwise, the retreat will have been for naught.

Your clerical staff will appreciate this time also. It's gives them time to update files, etc.
