Jeannette Anna MacDonald was born June 18, 1903 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania and was a star on Broadway before she got her first big break in 1929 with Maurice Chevalier in The Love Parade directed by Ernst Lubitsch. Jeannette MacDonald starred in over 32 movies during 1920-1940s. One of the best movies was with Spencer Tracy, Clark Gablein the movie San Francisco. She and Nelson Eddy paired up in several movies and became known as a famous singing duo of the era. She stopped acting in movies in 1949 with her last movie The Sun Comes Up . She graced us with a couple of TV appearances before retiring on shows such as Playhouse 90 and Screen Directors Playhouse during the mid 1950s. She retired and lived until her death with her actor husband Gene Raymond on January 14, 1965.
