Since I love games that are free and educational, it’s natural that I would love “Scramble with Friends Free”. Scramble with Friends Free is a game created by the popular game-making company, Zynga. Scramble with Friends Free is available on iPhones and iPads. The game kind of reminds me of Boggle. The object of the game is to create as many words with the letters given in the allotted time. Each word that you create has to have connecting letters. You can go up, down, left, right and/or diagonal…but all of the letters must touch.
The game is played head-to-head against another player. You can find opponents by your Facebook account, entering in a specific person’s username or you can choose to play a random opponent that the game assigns you.
You each take turns over the course of 3 rounds. Whoever wins the most total points over the 3 rounds, wins the game. During each round you can select “power-ups” to give you a little boost. For example, my favorite power-up is “freeze”. When you select the “freeze” power-up, you are given extra time at the end of your round to find a few more words.
Also, each round seems to get progressively harder however you are given ways to earn extra points when you use letters that are designated as double letter or double word. Also each letter is assigned a point value (similar to Scrabble) so when you use a Z in your word you will get substantially more points than using a more popular letter like S.
In order to play each game or select power-ups you need to have tokens. Tokens are naturally earned over time however there is an option to purchase more tokens. Similarly if you pay for the paid version of the game you will earn tokens at a quicker rate however for someone who likes to occasionally play the game to release a little stress, the free version accumulates tokens at a very satisfying pace. Personally, I feel like the game is very addictive.
You can download Scramble with Friends Free from the Apple Market on your iPhone or your iPad.
