Attuning To Your Tarot Cards

Many individuals ask me how they can better attune to their Tarot cards. Although the connection one develops with their Tarot cards is unique and individualized, there are some creative techniques to help connect and better attune yourself to them.

One of the most effective methods I have found is meditating on each individual card. This does not have to be done all at one time, however you may decide to first spend a few moments with each card feeling it's energy and focusing upon it's associated symbols.

The Tarot cards are packed full of meaningful symbols and since our minds tend to think in terms of symbols this would be the best means for connecting with them. Each card depicts a story, so with this in mind, focus on what each card is representing via it's numbers, elements, planetary signs and any other symbology associated with each card.

You may want to hold each card, one at a time, in your hand and place the other hand directly over top of the card. Allow yourself to feel the energy of the card. You may notice a warm, tingling sensation. Sometimes it may feel like a cool swirling type of sensation. As you hold each card in your hand in this fashion, you are exchanging energy with the card. You are putting your energy into them and as a result, you are also receiving energy from each card. This helps your subconsciousness pick up on the energy associated with each individual card; which will also help it to depict the associated symbolism for each card.

Another method I have found useful is sleeping with your Tarot cards under your pillow or if possible in your hands. This is helpful if you have a small cloth drawstring bag to place them in while you are sleeping as to not mess up your cards. Plus if you'd happen to drop them during the night, you'd not have them scattered everywhere. You can do this one card at a time or the entire deck; the choice is ultimately yours.

I have found that when sleeping with the Tarot, I would have nights that literally the cards would come to my mind all night long; as if watching a slideshow. It was a restless night in one aspect, but it was necessary in attuning to them as well. That's not to say that you will experience the same thing but should you experience seeing the cards at night while trying to sleep you will not be alarmed by it. Simply put, it is a sign you are connecting to them.

Most usually, I find that almost everyone experiences their own means of connecting to the cards. It may take some time to do this or it may happen rather quickly. If it doesn't, do not fret and give up! That just means you need to follow your intuition and devise a creative way to connect with them.
What works for me may not necessarily work for you so be creative and keep an open mind.

You may want to spend a few minutes each day focusing on each card and writing down whatever impressions come to you during that time. I find this to be very helpful in deciphering the language (symbols) of the Tarot. Journaling your experience will also be a valuable tool to serve your growth as a Tarot reader.

Although there are tons of books available to assist you in interpreting the cards, the fact is, it is ultimately you that is deciphering the meaning of the cards. So what matters most is that you can identify with them and associate their meaning in an efficient manner.

That is why it is important to attune yourself to your individual deck. Listening to your intuition is the best method! Spend a little bit of time getting to know your deck and tap into it's energy. In this way, you will be enhancing your own understanding of the Tarot. These are only a few methods but certainly not all of them. Be creative, use your imagination and spend a little time getting to know your cards today!

To Your Divinatory Success!
