This time out, I have the last of the January romances to share with all of you: Sins of a Highland Devil (Grand Central, received from publisher) by Sue-Ellen Welfonder and first in a new trilogy. In this one, three clans are set to battle for control of the Glen of Many Legends. James Cameron, aka The Devil, won’t allow his clan to lose to anyone, no matter what Catriona MacDonald’s intentions may be. Catriona’s clan is one of the three involved, and, though she knows better from past experience, she can’t resist James, nor does she really want to. But the upcoming battle looms over every relationship, familial and otherwise, complicating the courtship and seduction between James and Catriona more than either could have guessed. If ever you want a guaranteed-great Scottish romance, just pick up something with Sue-Ellen Welfonder’s name on the cover. She is an expert on the subject of
Scottish history, not to mention a terrifically nice lady. Her passion for all things Scottish really comes through in her storytelling. Then, too, are her amazing characters, the heroes who are so easy to fall in love with, with whom the equally strong heroines can’t help but fall in love. There are always lighter touches, as you’ll discover here with the quirky Grizel, and fabulous legends, as you’ll find here with the ghostly Scandia and her long-lost love Donar and the tragedy that has kept them apart for many years. This is such a good read, I’m borrowing four and a half of Cupid’s five arrows for it.
Until next time, happy reading!
