The Benefits of Rose Essential Oil

This has been a week of The Rose. Everywhere I’d turn, I smelled the rose. I was in my living room, I smelled rose, in my local Walmart in the garden section (not my favorite place these days) and I smelled rose.

Anytime a scent starts coming into my space this way, it’s time for me to step back and meditate on its presence.

As for essential oils, rose is an all purpose oil, but it’s not as popular as Lavender essential oil. This is in part because of the price of rose oil. The botanical name for rose is Rosa Damascena. It is known by different names such as Bulgarian and Turkish rose, rose otto and attar of rose.

Even though roses come in different colors, yellow, white, red … The word rose is derived from the Greek word “roden”, which means red.

Rose essential oil is not only valuable in fighting depression, anger and fear, it softens your skin and gives it a pleasing glow. Rose essential oil also takes care of your heart and digestive system.

Although it should be avoided during pregnancy, it’s great for coping with emotional problems, stress, eczema and menstrual problems.

Rose oil is strong, floral and sweet and even though it has antiviral, antiseptic and antispasmodic properties, it makes a great aphrodisiac. Having been used by women to seduce many men, rose oil is the most popular oil for romance. A “very” small amount of real rose oil will go a long way and although it’s extremely expensive, it will last a long time.

Rose essential oil is typically the oil that perfumes are built around. It blends well with, Jasmine, Geranium, Lavender and Patchouli. Some perfumers consider a fraction of a percent of rose, enough. It can work wonders and change your environment.

In aromatherapy blends, rose otto is more potent than the rose absolute and an even smaller amount is needed.

Rose essential oil or Rose Otto is considered to be the “Oil of Love” and also considered to have the highest vibratory rate of all the oils.
