This time out, I have Hunger Untamed (Avon, received from publisher) by Pamela Palmer, the latest in her ‘Feral Warriors’ series. In this installment, Kougar discovers that Ariana, Queen of the Ilinas, and his life mate, isn’t truly dead, just that she betrayed him many years ago. But he’ll have to work with her to rescue two of his Feral Warrior brothers. Ariana still holds secrets from Kougar, though the searing sexual attraction they shared centuries ago still flares hot now despite the distrust he clings to. None of her people ever approved of her mating with Kougar, but Ariana still harbors deep feelings for her mate, no matter how he feels about her now. To help him, she will endanger herself. I liked this one better than the last one in the series. Kougar has much to overcome before he can trust his heart to Ariana again, as a thousand years is a long time to nurse a broken heart and to mourn someone who hasn’t actually died. He is a sexy, fantastic shifter, worthy of his station within the Feral Warriors, and definitely worthy of the title hero, with his strong sense of honor and that heart he tries so hard to protect from further hurt. Ariana never wanted to hurt Kougar, and wouldn't do it again if she could help it, and her heart has never healed from the broken bond. This one is hot and full of action, plus we get to revisit all those characters we’ve loved in the previous books in the series, while getting tantalizing glimpses of future stories. I’m borrowing four of Cupid’s five arrows for this one.
Until next time, happy reading!
