Slow Cooker Dessert Recipe

Did you know that some of the most decadent desserts can be made in the slow cooker? Slow cookers are best known for pot roasts, soups, and stews, but fabulous desserts can also be made in them. When the weather starts to get warm, it’s nice to know that dessert is on the countertop and no oven will be heating up the kitchen. Slow Cooker Chocolate Pudding Cake is a moist and delicious dessert that takes little effort, but will draw raves from everyone.

What could be easier than a triple chocolate dessert that starts with two mixes - a cake mix and a pudding mix? The other ingredients are most likely in the fridge or on the pantry shelves, so it can be assembled right away. Slow Cooker Chocolate Pudding Cake is perfect for the chocoholic, or anyone who likes moist, rich desserts. This is one that will be requested again and again.

1 18.25 ounce chocolate or devil's food cake mix
1 3 oz. package instant chocolate pudding mix
2 cups sour cream
4 eggs
1 cup water
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Whipped cream, or ice cream
  1. Mix the cake mix and pudding mix; beat in the sour cream, eggs, water, vegetable oil, and chocolate chips.

  2. Spray the crock of a 5 quart slow cooker with non-stick spray; pour the batter into the crock.

  3. Cover and cook on low 3-5 hours or until barely set in the center, and when a toothpick is inserted, it will come out with a few moist crumbs.

  4. To serve: spoon into bowls while still hot and top with whipped cream or ice cream.
