Postcard Swap from Australia

A few years ago I participated in a postcard swap that was organised by a highly respected quilter in Bundaberg, Qld, Australia, Ailsa Koloi. It was a fantastic experience and I really went on a learning journey with each postcard that I created along the way.

Well, my friend Ailsa is running another postcard swap and this time is inviting quilters from all around the world to participate. Iím going to put my name down again too.

Hereís a picture of a Postcard Quilt that Ailsa made with her swaps. Isnít it fabulous? I have all my swapped postcards pinned to a cork board, and see them every day. I loved the different theme each month and enjoyed the challenge of creating something measuring 6 x 4 inches. I surprised myself with the results.

I was thrilled to receive a postcard from a complete stranger each month and loved the different genres people chose for their themes. Click on the link at the bottom of this page to go to my original article and see some photos.
Hereís some further details about the swap.

A fabric postcard is like a 6 x4 inch mini quilt. Ailsa now has a beautiful collection of these little gems from her 100 or so participants. On acceptance, each participant receives a list of the themes for 6 months together with a list of their allocated swap partners and their details for 6 months.

You make and receive one postcard a month. Ailsa emails out a great set of instructions on how to make a postcard and asks for a promise that you will make one card a month. Australian quilters are looking forward to swapping with folk from overseas. Look at the site www.flickr.com/groups/bundyfpc to see some of the cards.

As many of the girls are keeping their postcards in a set sized album, it would be appreciated if all cards be made as close as possible to 6 x 4 inches. Further details regarding posting, protocol etc can be obtained from Ailsa on the contact details below.
