This time out, I have the latest from Thea Devine, The Darkest Heart (Gallery, received from publisher). I'm a huge Thea Devine fan, so I was excited to see she's been allowed to go back to the historical settings she prefers to write about. In this one, Countess Lazlaric is on the hunt for a bride for her son, to continue the family line. When a distant relative writes asking for her assistance, she sees it as the perfect opportunity to put her plan in motion. Senna Landseth is unsettled by the rather oddly warm welcome she gets from the Countess, but the country manor is more disturbing, particularly when it becomes clear that she's being observed by someone she doesn't know. The mysterious Dominick entices her much more than her intended groom, and the family she may be marrying into keeps some very unsavory secrets. Dominick can't keep away from the naive Senna anymore than she can resist him. Their secret meetings become ever more heated, more intimate, even as Dominick withholds part of himself to keep his own dark secret from Senna. If you've been waiting impatiently for a new story from Ms. Devine, run out to grab this one at your nearest bookstore. It's every bit as sexy and dangerous as fans have been hoping for, with plenty of steam to satisfy even the most demanding of readers. I'm even happier that there's going to be a follow-up to this one. I'm borrowing four of Cupid's five arrows for this one. I just love Thea Devine's books.
Until next time, happy reading!
