Demon

Hello, and welcome back! It's cooled down a little bit again, so the windows are open, letting a lovely breeze move through the office right now. Tuesday was a pretty good day, as we went up to New York for the RWA Literacy Signing. Aside from the mess the hotel security made in allowing only so many people at a time into the overcrowded room they assigned to the booksigning, it was fun. We got to meet up with a whole lot of really terrific romance authors, some we might only get the chance to meet once or twice, and some we've met already and love.

This time out, I have the latest from Kristina Douglas, aka Anne Stuart, Demon (Pocket, purchased), second in her 'The Fallen' series. In this installment, Azazel knows he will have to mate with his enemy Lilith. Rachel Fitzpatrick thinks he's out of his mind when he claims she's a demon. He blames her for the death of his true love, so mating with her should be a repugnant idea. Except that he finds himself fighting his attraction to her instead of keeping her at a distance as he should be doing, and easily, with all the hatred he's held for her all this time. Rachel understands his anger, but she has no memory of the things he claims she's done in the past even if she knows her presence is dangerous no matter where she goes. Plus the sexy man in her arms has betrayal on his mind, so it seems smartest to withhold any emotional entanglements the longer they're together. If only she could. And while they fight their growing feelings for one another, war is still brewing in Azazel's world, a war that can end the world as humans know it. No matter what name she uses when she writes, no matter what time period or world, Stuart/Douglas creates dangerous, sexy heroes and strong women who can hold their own with these men, and I adore them. Azazel is intriguing, carrying much anger with him, yet still unable to do as he's promised to do when he actually catches up with Rachel. The only thing I'm disappointed about is that we have to wait till next spring for the third installment in the series. I'm borrowing four and a half of Cupid's five arrows for this one. It's excellent.

Until next time, happy reading!

Kristina Douglas
