This time out, I have Beg for Mercy
(Grand Central, received from publisher) by Jami Alden. It's been far too long since I've seen anything new from this author, so I was anxious to dig in. Megan Flynn's life was shattered when the man she loved, Cole Williams, arrested her brother for a brutal murder. She couldn't believe her brother Sean would ever do such a thing, and she was devastated by Cole's belief that he could. Now, two years later, Megan is desperate enough to save her brother's life that she'll turn to Cole for help, even though he still believes Sean is guilty. But the more Megan digs into the case, the more danger rears its head, and Cole won't let anything happen to her, not now that she's back in his life, even if she still hasn't convinced him of Sean's innocence. If Megan's right, though, a murderer is still on the loose, and she may have put herself squarely in the killer's sights. Alden can always be counted on for plenty of heat in her stories, and this one's got lots of that. I waited a long time between books for her, and this one was worth the wait. This one reminded me of some of my favorite stories from Shannon McKenna and Shannon K. Butcher, with a fabulous hero, strong and sexy, a determined, capable heroine, and really terrific suspense to keep you turning pages. I can't wait for the next installment in this new series. This one's earned four of Cupid's five arrows.
Until next time, happy reading!
