Ty Warner Sea Center Santa Barbara California

As a part of the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, you will find the incredible Ty Warner Sea Center. Located in this breathtakingly scenic part of the California Coast, this is an experience both magical and educational.

The Ty Warner Sea Center, located on Stearns Wharf, is your muse to your inner child who loves the underwater world and its fascinating inhabitants. Here, you will feel like a scientist making an amazing discovery.

You will be given the chance to study animal behavior and work like a scientist, examining microscopic marine life. You can meet tide pool animals and watch theater explaining the enchantment of the Santa Barbara Channel.

Activities include going through a two-story glass foyer to see a life-size model of a California Gray whale and her calf!

Next, you will not want to miss the experience of viewing their 1,500 gallon surge tank by way of a tunnel inside of it. In this way, you are able to be surrounded by typical life under the ocean, such as sea stars, sea urchins and limpets. It’s a wondrous way to spend a day!

You actually feel like you are an oceanographer! You will learn to test ocean water quality and be updated on current scientific ocean research and when you’re done with that - be sure to sing with the whales! This is an experience you will never forget!

The Ty Warner Sea Center is for adults and children alike. Whatever your age, this exploration of the ocean will spark your imagination!

Take a self-guided tour, set up a discovery lab for your class, check out the Sea Center’s outdoor nature exploration along Mission Creek, or arrange a “Mondays My Way” investigation for your child’s class to focus on a special marine-related topic.
