Igniting A Life Of Generosity, by Chris McDaniel is a 21 day, daily devotional aimed at helping readers to develop a personal theology for generous giving. It not only teaches what the Bible says about giving but actually shows how to put it into practice and how to become a cheerful giver.
Ignite:
- To set on fire
- To heat intensely
- My definition: Passion
Generosity:
Liberality in giving
Largeness or fullness
Bountifulness
This is a devotional booklet aimed at developing a passion for bountiful giving.
Passionate, bountiful giving is God’s theme throughout Scripture.
The devotional is designed to be studied for 21 days and is divided into three areas of teaching:
- What Does God Want You To Know?
- What does He Want You To Do?
- Ignite The Fire!
Each day’s study is accented with stories and anecdotes from Christian leaders and authors and topped off with insightful questions that encourage readers to become more deeply involved in the material.
At only 60 pages, this book would be easy to read in its entirety in an hour or two and you may be tempted to do that. If you do, fine, but then go back and read it according to plan. It will be much more useful and meaningful if read as prescribed, taking each day’s reading and meditation as enough for the day. Don’t rush through it. Let the Spirit speak to you through each day’s study. I highly recommend Igniting A Life Of Generosity as a personal daily devotional or as a small group study where experiences and struggles can be shared.
