To bead one of the larger mandala type patterns,I work in odd count peyote because it's fast, I start in the middle and work out to the ends so there are no increases, just decreases. You can also bead this pattern in brick stitch.
In the last few years, there have been a few Bead Like a Pirate articles on this site. Last year was this mini beaded Jolly Roger banner
, which still hangs in my dad's truck. A great gift for the hard to bead for.
Jolly Roger earrings
in brick stitch, several styles. I wore the pair pictured for the annual Pirate Pub Crawl last weekend, it's a local fund raiser for the Blood Bank of Alaska and it was loads of fun.
Beaded Hair Clips
for a pirate look straight out of the movies, this is a fun project to do with children.
are more wearable even if you aren't a big pirate enthusiast, but they were a Talk Like a Pirate Day design, based on the idea of "pieces of eight"
Cute Pirate Bracelets
for pirate girls. A ninja bracelet for people who prefer ninjas. I also have a very cute Ninja bracelet pattern for sale in my Etsy shop linked at the bottom of this article.
And a Pirate Amulet Bag
to bead. The Jolly Roger for this pattern would also be nice in a small frame as a suncatcher.
Good jewelry for Talk Like a Pirate Day would include anything gold, pearls, coin charms and sparkling crystals or semi-precious stones. Just forget restraint and layer it on. Wear your beaded wealth with pride!
