Grapefruit seed extract (GSE) may aid in your battle against colds and flu this winter. The product, derived from the pulp and seeds of grapefruit, is believed to strengthen the immune system.
GSE is a product I have been using for two years plus. I purchase Nutribiotic GSE in liquid form and add 10 drops, along with Vitamin C crystals, to a cup of water and drink on an empty stomach before each meal. I started the practice when I was battling a sinus infection associated with candidiasis, an overgrowth of bad bacteria in oneís body, and continue it for prevention.
I havenít had a sinus infection since I began the practice but in fairness, I also changed my eating habits to limit carbohydrates, use an electronic nasal irrigation device twice per day and added several other supplements to my regimen.
GSE is reputed to be helpful for all kinds of things. These include: candida, cold sores, skin fungi or bacterial diseases of the skin, gingivitis, sinusitis and sore throat. Some use it mixed with water as a daily supplement to strengthen the immune system. Others add a drop to their nasal rinse on occasion or when a cold flares up. Use caution with this one as it can sting your nasal cavities.
The liquid form can be used internally as long as it is diluted with water. The recommended dilution is 10 drops in a glass of water. Never use GSE full strength. GSE also is available in tablets but I have never taken the product in that form.
The cost of the liquid GSE ranges from $12-$20 for a small bottle. It is nice to have around for many other uses. It has a variety of applications in the household.
Mix 30-50 drops of GSE liquid in a quart of water, pour into a spray bottle and use as an all-purpose cleaner/disinfectant without the harshness or chemicals of other cleaners. GSE can be used to clean fungus and mildew off of shower stalls and tile, to disinfect animalsí cages, and clean fruits and vegetables before eating.
The product has many other uses. It is hard to believe that such a versatile product comes from the pulp and seeds of grapefruit. GSE can be kept on hand for a long time as it has an indefinite shelf life.
