There are many fundraisers happening in November. In my internet research, I found over a dozen charities with November as their awareness month. I am going to highlight just a few of the charities that shed light on many worthwhile causes.
America Education Week
The National Education Association links parents, educators and communities in a unified effort to build better public schools. Some of the activities include Parent’s Day, Educator for a Day and Kick Off Day. For more information, visit their website.
American Diabetes Month
Diabetes is a disease that affects 20.8 million people. The American Diabetes Association is encouraging communities to join millions in the campaign to Stop Diabetes. There are many ways to get involved. You can make a pledge on Facebook, or attend an event in your area.
Lung Cancer Awareness Month
The Lung Cancer Alliance is dedicated to bringing attention to lung cancer issues. During the month of November, there are local fundraising events. In an effort to garner support, there is also a request to contact your local congress.
National Adoption Month
The National Council for Adoption is holding an online auction for the month of November. Their Bidding for Good
auction features unique items to raise money for their cause. This is a great way to support children who need a permanent family. Some of the items available for auction are: jewelry, tickets, travel vouchers, sports gear and collectibles.
National Alzheimer’s Awareness Month
Alzheimer’s disease is named after Dr. Alois Alzheimer. In 1906, Dr. Alzheimer recognized changes in the brain tissue of a woman who died of an unusual mental illness. In 1980, The Alzheimer’s Association was formed with the vision of a world without Alzheimer’s. The Alzheimer’s Association is dedicated to finding preventative methods and a cure for Alzheimer’s disease.
Some of the other causes for the month of November: National Caregivers Month, Prematurity Awareness Month, Great American Smokeout and America Recycles Day.
