Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific

The Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific should definitely be in your summer vacation plans! It is highly recommended that you give it a whirl…or a twirl…or a splash…or a dive…or just dip your toe in because soon you’ll be surfing and flipping through the entire aquarium as happy as a clam - or a clownfish!

The summer can be long and hot - make the most of your summer by being inspired by the underwater muses you will meet at this fantastic not-to-be-missed must-see aquarium!

This year, they are having a year-long celebration for their 10 year anniversary! Join them in the fun!

As part of their anniversary, the aquarium will highlight the most important issues facing the ocean in their new exhibition called “Ocean on the Edge”. In this exhibit, you will explore these educational issues:

1. One World Ocean
2. Risk to Coastal Communities
3. Shared Governance
4. Energy from the Sea
5. Ocean Trade
6. Biodiversity Loss
7. Food from the Sea
8. Coral Reefs and Mangroves
9. Ocean Pollution
10. Global Warming

Dive in to their Café Scuba and try some of their delectable dishes and relax as you watch the seals and sea lions cavort! With a full tummy and a relaxed mind, you are ready to take a tour!

Load your MP3 player in advance with audio tours of the Tropical Pacific Gallery and the Northern Pacific Gallery from the aquarium website before you arrive at the aquarium and you are ready to cruise through these beautiful exhibits as you enjoy learning and soaking up the wonders of the undersea world.

The aquarium is home to more than 12,500 ocean animals , representing nearly 500 species; this aquarium focuses on the fantastic Pacific Ocean! Don’t miss Shark Lagoon (ooooooooh!) and the Lorikeet Forest Aviary in Explorer’s Cove! Be sure to check back from time to time since the special exhibits gallery features changing exhibits.

The Aquarium of the Pacific is one of the largest aquariums in the United States, so be sure to be prepared and arrive early! The address is 100 Aquarium Way in Long Beach, California 90805.
