Road Trip to Tagaytay City

Wanting to go on a short road trip?

The most popular destination is Tagaytay City in Cavite Province.

The top three reasons why Tagaytay City is a winner are: First, its proximity to Manila. By private car, it is only about one hour to one hour thirty minutes. It can also be reached through public transportation. There are many air-conditioned buses plying the route. Add a half-hour or so if you are taking public bus.

The second reason is its generally cool weather. The air here is a welcome respite from the polluted air one breathes in Manila. You can actually feel the “lightness” or airiness.

The third reason - and for many - Tagaytay’s main attraction, is the grand view of Taal Volcano. This active volcano is situated in a lake within Taal Lake. A boat ride is a must if you want to get closer to this volcano. The water around it is generally placid. The surrounding area is heavily misted during and immediately after a heavy rainfall. But on a clear day, the view is simply fantastic.

Other than the three aforementioned natural attractions, other interesting places in Tagaytay are the Flower Farm and the Palace in the Sky. There are also monasteries and convents which the Catholic faithful love to visit for prayers, contemplation and religious retreats. Tagaytay is also a favourite and popular venue for romantic weddings.

There are golf courses as well. Playing though is limited to members and their guests. Children, even adults, can enjoy horse-back riding. A groom is at hand to guide rider and horse and to ensure safety of both. This activity is always a thrill, especially for those who have never ridden a horse.

Even for those who just want quiet time, Tagaytay has much to offer. Simply sip a cup of brewed coffee while perched in a viewing deck. Enjoy the breezy air (or wind depending on the time of the day and the weather). Savour the grand vista of Taal Volcano and nearby environs for as far as your eyes could see. Soak in the simplicity of the ambience for despite the creeping modernization and the mushrooming of commercial activities, Tagaytay has retained its rustic charm.

Establishments like hotels, inns, and restaurants that cater to travellers’ needs are many and accessible as most are located along the national road. Use of credit cards like Visa, MasterCard, and American Express are accepted by most. Banks with automated teller machines (ATM) are also available. There is also internet connectivity, strong mobile phone signals, local telephones lines and cable TV.

Hence, should you decide to stay overnight or extend your visit for a day is not a problem at all.
