The Illuminati - The Ultra Secret Society

What makes a secret society? It generally takes rumors, secrets, and possibly a real conspiracy. One of the most well known and understood is the Illuminati, those that are spiritually enlightened.

To many, the Illuminati are a mysterious group that has no proof of existence. Quite the opposite is true. There really was a secret society known as the Illuminati. In 1776 in Bavaria, a professor by the name of Adam Weishaupt created a subgroup within the order of Freemasons. This group grew and eventually broke off from the Freemasons with many of the Masonic members following Weishaupt.

From the beginning, this group had selected membership and kept themselves very secretive. Nothing can start rumors or theories than a group that keeps to themselves. Even during the French Revolution, rumors abounded of the involvement of the Illuminate. From most reports, the revolution occurred at the instigation of the secret group.

In 1785, the Illuminati were officially disbanded and outlawed. Most people believed that they did not die out but went underground to continue their work in even more strict secrecy.

Today, the Illuminati is thought to be the wealthiest group of men in all of history. They use this money to control the media, governments, infrastructures, banks, educational system, and even the economy. All that sit on the Council of 12 are international bankers that control the world and dictate to governments.

Many around the world see them as a secret religion or a group of assassins. But the most popular believe is their goal of a one-world government. According to one member who supposedly broke the silence, anonymously described the group as liberators and not trying to be in control.

Why is this group so much more mysterious when compared to other secret societies? Possibly because its membership included the wealthiest men of Europe along with many European rulers. If that tradition continued when the society went underground, who knows how far their power has reached. That is, if they still exist today.

As they are a secret society, no one can say with such complete certainty that they still exist. Sure, there are groups that carry the name, but are they the real Illuminati that are whispered about in the halls of government and economy?

History can say that the Illuminati did exist and could possibly still exist today. The inability to know for sure has led to the thousands of rumors about the group including the occult, assassinations, and every conspiracy known to man. It is the secret part that inspires us all.
