This publication – Building Blocks for Classic Quilts – 13 Popular Quilt Patterns has been beautifully put together to showcase 13 of the most popular traditional quilt patterns that are known today.
The patterns include New York Beauty, Shoofly, Trip around the World, Pineapple, True Lovers Knot, Churn Dash, Mariner’s Compass, Rail fence, Baby Blocks, Log Cabin, Grandmother’s Flower Garden and Ocean Waves. All of these patterns have been around a long time, and are still fresh and new as the day they were first presented to the quilting public.

Each pattern is meticulously written with full instructions and diagrams and lots of gorgeous photographs. I love the idea of making these quilts and filling your house with these wonderful creative statements.
Most patchwork books these days come with a section usually called General Directions or, General Instructions. The general instructions in this publication have been very well presented, leaving nothing ambiguous, or to the imagination. It’s great to see these vital instructions provided in such detail.
I think this book is a perfect starter for a quilter. The traditional patterns are very recognisable and doable and have just the right amount of skill level required to make a fabulous creation.
If you’re a traditionalist, this is the book for you. My complimentary copy has already had a workout.
