It's nearly 2012, so I designed some bead themed digital art calendars for all my readers.
The calendars are made to print at 8x10 inches at 300 dpi, so click on them to save them and print them from your graphics program, or download the PDF that has all 3 calendars in it. They have the full year on a sheet of paper.
Click the thumbnails to go to the calendar and save it, then use your browsers back button to come back here. The thumbnails show part of the design.
The first one has blank graph paper to doodle patterns.
Strung beads all tangled.
The last one has a bit more explanation. It's digital bead embroidery.
The last one is based off an outfit my Aunt Cecilia made for me when I was a baby. This is the outfit being modeled by my daughter when she was little enough to wear it.
Athabaskan beadwork is couched embroidery, frequently on a soft hide backing. Couching means that a line of beads is laid down, and stitched down with a second needle and thread instead of backstitched. Since glass seed beads up here came frequently with missionaries, the style of beadwork was taught by those same missionaries. They based it off of styles seen down south by other tribes. So if it looks familiar, it is. We adapted the designs we were taught to the flowers that were common up here. The flower on the jacket is a prickly rose, the only wild rose that grows up here and is native to the region. Athabaskan beadwork is intricate and full of flower shapes. The design on the jacket was one that Aunt Cecelia used frequently.
You can download a PDF that has all 3 calendars in it here. Right click and choose "Save target as", and just print the page or pages you want!
There are also a couple 2012 calendars that don't have a bead theme available on my blog, Don't Eat the Paste.
