Little Whale Cay
First developed in the 1930’s by Wallace Graoves, Little Whale Cay has remained a very well kept secret. This is a private island home that previously only received a few family and friends as guests. But after a great deal of urging the present owners have decided to open their home to guests, one family at a time.
Set smack in the middle of the Berry Islands in the Bahamas, Little Whale Cay is an easy flight from Nassau, Ft. Lauderdale or Miami. The location can accommodate up to 12 guests in 3 individual, elegant, villas, privately set on 93 acres. Surrounded by white, unspoiled, sandy beaches this is an elegant and graceful escape. Aside from the beach you and your family can indulge in a marina, spa facilities, gym, sea-view infinity edged pool, tennis court, a flotilla of boats for skiing, sailing and fishing or cruising to small neighboring islands, and even a chapel. A dedicated staff live on the island, their job being just to watch over guests.

Accommodations, all air-conditioned, with flat screen TVs, DVD players, WiFi and telephones, are divided among three houses; Little Whale House, the main house and usually the popular gathering place, with a bar and satellite fed flat screen TV, 2 en-suite bedrooms, one double bedded and 1 king master suite, study, spacious living room, dining room and terrace. Flamingo House has 4 bedrooms, 2 en-suite queen bedded rooms, one twin and 1 queen that share a bath, living room and terrace, and Peacock House with a king en-suite master bedroom, living room and terrace. Houses are connected by pathways but sheltered for privacy.

You can spend most of your day outside under the Caribbean sun, involved in a water sport, fishing, playing tennis, sailing, visiting a neighboring island for lunch, indulging in a massage or facial or just lounging by the sea-view infinity pool. And dining can be anywhere you would like: around the pool, on the terrace at Little Whale House, or on the beach. Meals will be prepared to your personal preference by the private chef using fresh and organic vegetables and fish and meat…Healthy and light!

The price is surprisingly affordable at $9,500 per day for up to 12 with a minimum of 5 nights, or $790 per person per day including accommodations, food, drinks (including spirits and house wines), the use of all island facilities, boats, fuel, telephone calls and WiFi Internet connection in each Guest House. ($10,750 per day, 5-night minimum, if the stay includes Christmas, Easter or Thanksgiving Holiday). Transfers to Little Whale Cay, Tennis pro, Bonefish guide, Spa services, Wave runners, Scuba diving etc. can be arranged at extra cost. Staff gratuities are not included nor are Bahamian room tax. A 15% additional charge is made to cover both of these.

There are few resorts, never mind private islands that offer luxury for such a price.
