Blood and Fire

Hello, and welcome back! I’m still attempting to get things caught up here from my crazy fall and holiday season. I hope you’re all settling into the new year more calmly than I have. My stack of review books is still far taller than any normal month, so I still have lots of things to share with you, and I aim to do just that in the next few weeks in my attempt to get caught up.

This time out, I have Shannon McKenna’s Blood and Fire (Brava, received from publisher). I am a huge McKenna fan, so I was waiting anxiously for this one, and even more so after I got to fulfill a long-time fan-girl wish to meet her back in June at the Romance Writers of America Literacy booksigning, when I got a very pretty bookmark with the cover art on it. This time out, Bruno Ranieri has his hands full trying to keep his family’s business afloat when Lily Parr comes into his restaurant and says someone is trying to kill her. Bruno can’t deny someone’s after the gorgeous stranger, but he has no idea exactly who that might be. Lily knows her father didn’t actually commit suicide, and the attempts on her life are enough to convince her the same people who killed him are now after her. Trying to stay alive is the first item on her agenda, but getting her hands on the strong, sexy Bruno quickly becomes a top priority. The people who’re after her are persistent and determined, and it will take all of their combined resources–and that of the McCloud family–to put a stop to the danger. I love McKenna’s McClouds, and Bruno is seriously hot. McKenna’s heroines are always up to the task of taking on these amazing men, though the getting to the happy ending isn’t easy. In this case, it doesn’t seem as if this pair will be able to manage that, but you know Shannon McKenna will pull it off with style and make you believe. I was thrilled to add this one to my keeper shelf of McKenna romantic suspense books, right after crying happy tears when I got to the end of this one. Love it, love it, love it! I’m borrowing all five of Cupid’s arrows for Bruno and Lily. I just wish Ms. McKenna would write a tiny bit faster!

Until next time, happy reading!
