Honeysuckles and Jasmine are pure ecstasy in bloom. To me anyway and I thought I was the only one that felt this way about this combination. That is until I was having a conversation with a complete stranger about perfumes and she expressed her favorite combination of oils.

Why did I feel so alone in my little scent cocoon before now? Because, “No One” had ever mentioned this scent combination in all of my years on the planet. I’ll not discuss how many that is, at least not now.

It’s not that these two oils have never been used together, it’s just that it’s never been emphasized or mentioned in my world. How about yours?


Honeysuckles

Even if you don’t see them, you can certainly smell them especially late winter through early summer. Honeysuckles are arching shrubs or twining vines that are pretty much native to the Northern Hemisphere.

There are about 180 species of honeysuckle, everything from white to yellow to bright red or rose. Honeysuckles are desired for their sweet scented flowers and decorative fruit that attract the birds.

With all of its beauty in color and the sweet aroma that it provides, the honeysuckle cannot produce a true essential oil from its flowers. Which means that the Honeysuckle oils that you smell are synthetic blends.

Jasmine

Jasmine is called the “Queen of the Night” in India. In the use of aromatherapy, Jasmine influences the emotional parts of us. It is a mood changer. The essential oil has been known to diminish fear. It’s said that the smell of Jasmine has helped in recapturing self-confidence and defeating pessimism.

Because Jasmine essential oil is so expensive, much of what is sold today is fake or has been stretched with other ingredients.

So what are we to do if we want an essential oil that hasn’t been stretched to the nines? We’ll have to research and find reputable suppliers of these or any oil for that matter, so that we can produce the best natural perfume blends for clients and ourselves.

Once you find a supplier with the quality of oils that you like, Jasmine mixes well with, Rose, Neroli, Sandalwood, Orange and Cypress essential oils.
