If you're looking to eat healthy, one of your most important weapons is having quick, easy to make food that is filling. Shinsyu-ichi Instant Miso Soup fits those criteria - and it's tasty.
I've tried many miso soup mixes over the years, and this one gets special points for having its dry and wet ingredients in two separate pouches. This means the dry items stay dry and fresh, while the wet miso is nicely moist. You simply open the two pouches, sprinkle / squeeze them into a bowl, then add in hot water from the microwave. Poof - in as much time as it takes you to heat water, your soup is ready.
One pair of packets creates a serving that goes with 2/3 cup of water. I typically use 2 cups of water with 2 sets of packets. The single serving size has only 25 calories, 2g of carbs including about 1g of fiber, and 2g of protein. You get 3% of your calcium and 4% of your iron.
If you're sensitive to salt, it's important to note that this has 790mg of sodium in it - 33% of your daily intake. Soup is generally notorious for being salty, so this isn't a special issue of this soup here, but still it's good to be aware of. If you have soup in your day make sure the remainder of your day is fairly low in salt.
There are no trans fats and no cholesterol.
I enjoy the taste of this a lot. It is filling, flavorful, and there's a good amount of tofu and green onion. You can always add in other items if you wish - water chestnuts, mushrooms, baby corn, or whatever will make the soup just the way you want it.
Because the base package sits on your shelf, it's a great emergency food item. That way if you run out of salad mix or other items, you can grab this at any time and know you have food available. You can keep it at the office. As long as you have access to hot water, you have access to food.
Well recommended. The only trick might be to find this in the stores near you. We find it at our local supermarket.
