Flash Storybook Menu Overlay Toggle Positions

In this tutorial, we will set up the X and Y positions for each element on the settings menu overlay page for our FlashR storybook app. We will use these values with our ActionScript code to display or hide the overlay page as needed.

  1. For each of the elements, go to the Properties Inspector and make a note of the X and Y positions. You should get something like this.

    ButtonXY
    indexBtn
    musicBtn
    creditsBtn
    moreAppsBtn
    websiteBtn
    setMenuBg
    88
    285
    486
    709
    340
    0
    173
    178
    178
    181
    468
    0

  2. Now we need to record the X and Y positions for the settings menu overlay page when it is off the stage. Select all the layers inside the setMenu folder. We will now drag all the selected elements upward until all are off the stage. Record the new X and Y positions for each element. As you can see, the X position stays the same and the Y position is a negative number because it is above the stage.

    ButtonXY
    indexBtn
    musicBtn
    creditsBtn
    moreAppsBtn
    websiteBtn
    setMenuBg
    88
    285
    486
    709
    340
    0
    -611
    -606
    -606
    -603
    -316
    -785
At this point, we are ready to add ActionScript to the setTogBtn toggle button that will open and close the settings menu overlay page.
