2012 Golf Season Has Arrived

On February 1st was the beginning of our 2012 Golf season with the new board having their first golf meeting at 9:15 a.m. Our new Board President Carole started the meeting with a short message about the several golf tee times during the week and members can play in any of them as the golfer prefers. She related that some prefer a more concentrated game while others prefer a more relaxed style of play.

She opened the meeting with a treasures report and handing out the year book of activities for the year 2012. She listed that we have 25 members and that the dues were raised last year to $30.00 with a $10.00 fee for those who wanted to be in the Ringer game. There was a discussion that our treasure was low on funds as we over spent on some of our tournaments last year. She turned the meeting over to Janet who is the 1st Vice President in charge of tournaments.

Janet handed out a list of suggestions for our Member Guest event to be held on May 10th. Janet said she contacted The Range restaurant plus Stagecoach which we used the past two years. The Range was very cooperative and offered a nice luncheon compared to the Salad Bar at the Stagecoach. The price was somewhat larger but it was voted to go ahead with the Range for the luncheon. With this increase in price the total fee for guest would be $88.00 each with $63.00 for members. There was discussion on the optional practice rounds which were not that well attended in previous years so that was dropped. Janet also brought up for discussion if we should illuminate the evening party and this was also voted to skip also. Finally it was decided that members would bring items for the breakfast the day of the tournament.

The Treasure Carrol brought up information about the cleanup of Mill Creek from damage from the flood. There has been a delay in finishing the work as the State is holding things up for an Engineer to see what should be done as not to change the flow of the creek. They have been given permission to clean up the debris on the island but it all has to be burned on the island as not to damage the flow of the creek. It has been a long frustrating job to work with the State.

The meeting was turned over to 2nd Vice President Betty who is in charge of the Play Day Games. The charge of $1.50 was charged for the game going to low net plus chip-ins and birdies winners. She had set up with the Pro Shop to shot-gun start and three four some teams were sent out. It was a beautiful day warm and sunny which was a blessing for early February.

The play went off fine with one of my team members Rosalie had a birdie on the 16th par three hole. Always nice to see someone have a nice game as this par three is a difficult hole. After all arrived at the club house, the winners were rewarded their prizes and our first official LGA was off to a good start for 2012.
