Copper Beach

Hello, and welcome back! I hope you're all staying cozy and busy with your to-be-read stacks. While I was at work yesterday, there were a couple hours' worth of snowflakes falling, but they didn't last, and here at home, we had none, so I'm still very disappointed in Mother Nature this winter. I'm also still very, very behind on my reading and reviews, thanks to the craziness that is ongoing at work. I do apologize for that, and I want you to know I'm trying very hard to get back into my regular routine, despite the extended hours I'm putting in for work and my long commute.

This time out, I have the latest from Jayne Ann Krentz, Copper Beach (Putnam, purchased), the first in her new "Dark Legacy" series. While it's separate from her "Arcane Society" series, this one has still pulled in elements from that series, as Abby Radwell has the unusual psychic ability to unlock paranormal encryptions on rare, and sometimes dangerous, books. More than one someone is hunting for just such a book, and they'll go to any lengths to have Abby unlock it for them. Sam Coppersmith's talent runs to crystals and amber, but for his family, he's taken on the hunt for this book in order to keep it out of the hands of a very dangerous man. Abby and Sam team up: she'll find the book, and he'll keep her safe. The sexual tension between them flares from the very first, and when they spend more time together, there's no way either can resist, not that they really want to. But the people searching for 'The Key' are persistent, and some of them are downright deadly. Sam's family has a vested interest in keeping this book protected, as it details the location of some very dangerous crystals, which is one of their business interests. Abby and Sam may not want to, but they'll have to rely on not just themselves, but each other to stay alive. If you're a regular here, you know I'm a big fan of Ms. Krentz's work, no matter which name is on her book. I was thrilled when, in the last two years, all three of her romance identities were tied into the same series, but I'm just as happy right now, with this one bringing in paranormal elements to her contemporary storyline. Sam and Abby are smart and sexy, and the villain is not going to give up on his quest, so readers will be waiting to make sure he gets what's coming to him. I'm borrowing four of Cupid's five arrows for this one.

Until next time, happy reading!
