Whether you’re planning a party for two or twenty, social media can be a huge help. Not to mention some other apps that are available as downloads for iphones and smartphones. For impromptu gatherings, you can post your event on Facebook and have guests R.S.V.P there as well. If details about the party should change it will be easy to update guests. The same ease of keeping in touch with guests is available by using Twitter and Google+. If time and money are of the essence this may be a suitable option. Emily Post would probably never approve of this method; however, the bells and whistles of modern technology are here to serve us. Using social media to invite guests allows you to spend more money on food and or libations.
Now suppose that the party/event you’re planning involves a bit more detail and requires some serious venue research, have no fear. Party Aficionado an event management firm introduced “The Event Planning Tools” app. It helps hosts to find the best venue for the number of invited guests. It also has an event budget calculator to help keep track of expenses.
Looking for decorating ideas and a tutorial to go along with them? Hop on over to You Tube. A word of caution about You Tube, pace yourself and set a timer. One video leads to another and another, and before you know it, hours have passed. Most smartphones have a You Tube app as well so no matter where you it is accessible.
Sometimes one of the most challenging tasks of party planning is the menu. What to serve, how much is needed, what wine pairs best with what dish? Calgon take me away!! Sites such as, Epicurious, Big Oven and MyRecipes will have you serving up dishes that will leave your guests talking about the party for days. In a good way of course.
Also, use your smartphone to keep an eye on the weather. Inclimate weather may demand a change in the day, time, or attire of your shindig.
Even more addicting than You Tube, way more fun than Facebook is Pinterest. Pinterest is a virtual pin board that allows you to save in one location, all the things you find and fall in love with on the web. Pinners are allowed to categorize favorites into boards such as recipes, decorations, fashion, art, etc. It is easy to block out the entire outside world while you’re pinning away. Pinterest is an invitation only website. Invitations are given out my others that are already on the site. As an alternative, invitations may be requested directly from the website.
Party planning has never been easier with the help of modern technology. It’s just another way to keep you stress free and able to enjoy the celebrations. What are you waiting for, plan a party already!
