Knowing that the angels were looking after her little one, gave her great comfort, so Sheila wrote the Gabby God's Little Angel series to help children to understand that they are always in God's special care. Each book in the series focuses on one of the biblical roles of angels - they protect, they guard, and they encourage.
Not long ago, I reviewed the first book in this series, titled "Gabby, God's Little Angel Sent to Show God's Love" in which Gabby first meets her charge, Sophie. In this latest book, Sophie has grown up a little and even has a baby brother. She is learning about chores and responsibilities. Gabby's mission is to teach Sophie that God wants us to stick to a job and to finish what we start. Gabby reminds Sophie of the verse "We must not become tired of doing good. We will receive our harvest of eternal life at the right time. We must not give up!" Galatians 6:9 (ICB)
Since the two main characters are little girls, I think that the Gabby series, so far, is aimed toward little girls, even though Gabby has a few angel friends who are boys. The book is filled with beautiful illustrations by Natasha Kuricheva. The characters are attractive and have personality that little girls are certain to identify with. The message is short, to the point and clearly revealed through the jobs that Sophie was given to do. The story is also a great memorization tool for the one bible verse that sets the theme.
As an author, Sheila Walsh has sold more than four million books. She is author of "Gigi, God's Little Princess" series and books for adult readers, "The Shelter of God's Promises, God's Shelter for Your Storm and the novel Sweet Sanctuary.
