His well-developed characters stay in your mind and leave you wondering just what they are going to do next. Lil is a nun doing missionary work in South America. Throughout the entire book, she is engaged in a game of chess that could very well end her life. But why would a chess game end her life? Then there is Suse, a little boy in South America. Some very powerful people are hunting for him. Senator Joanne Hover is a woman with a lot of power, but does she want to use this power for good or for evil? Ragan and Kim are the leaders of a new religion. What is this religion and what is its purpose?
When I first received the unpublished book to read and review, I was surprised to find some pretty obvious mistakes in the first few pages, especially since it had been gone over by two professional proofreaders/editors. I contacted the author and told him what I had found. I let him know that there was no way I could give his book a good review with the shape it was currently in. And I offered to correct the mistakes in his book.
As I edited the book, his talent began to shine through as I noticed how logically his story flowed and how he never deviated from any of the storylines. There were times I wondered if he could manage to have the storylines merge together in a sensible fashion, but he succeeded. Bits of foreshadowing were planted strategically throughout the chapters. Since I knew what was going to happen, these hidden clues jumped out at me and left me wondering how long it had taken him to plan out just where to place them.
I found this dialogue-driven story to be very well-written and enjoyable. This novel isn't full of boring and unnecessary descriptions that you might be tempted to skip over. If you love a great story, then you would enjoy this book. If you are easily offended because of your religious beliefs, then you might not enjoy this book so much.
