Does My Fear Make My Butt Look Big?

Why yes Alice, it does.

In fact, there are so many buts in your fear that I think you have a real problem.

Fear is the one topic often left out of business books, success stories and motivational articles, however, fear is something that nearly every business owner encounters at some point in their business life.

Fear is filled with big buts that lead to big butts! Fear causes you to prepare, prepare, prepare and never get started. So what do you do about this nemesis? First, one of the reasons that fear is so powerful is because you often feel like you’re the only one who has it. That’s not true. As I mentioned, success stories often forget to tell you about how the subject of the book or article struggled with fear before they actually got started and they don’t tell you how to overcome fear.

Fear makes your butt big because it fills you with buts, excuses and resistance. These things all work against what you want to accomplish and will cause you to get stuck in one place instead of moving forward.

You have to become ruthless with fear and do the very opposite of what it tells you to do. If fear tells you to stop, find a way to keep going. If fear tells you your product is not good enough to sell on your website or offer to your customers make up your mind that you’re going to do it anyway.

The only way to stop being paralyzed by fear is to take action and do the thing that you are afraid of doing. Remind yourself that you don’t have to be perfect and you can make corrections at any time.

When you battle huge doses of fear you have to counter it with huge doses of action, massive action. I recently listened to an interview with the Founder of Centerpointe Research Institute Bill Harris. He said one reason most want to be business owners fail is lack of movement and implementation of the things they know they need to do. This comes from having a root of fear that’s bigger than the vision you have of yourself enjoying success.

It’s not just your problem, it’s a people problem and it’s meant to keep you stuck in one place until you are so burdened by fear that you give up. Then you get a big butt. Battle fear by taking action over and over and over again. The more you take action the more comfortable you become in doing so and the fear begins to lose the grip that it has on your productivity.
