While I have many articles on various aspects of the Biggest Loser SlimCoach software / fitness system as a whole, this review here is specifically about the plastic device itself and how sturdy / flimsy it is.
The SlimCoach unit does NOT take this battery inside it! The battery is only there for size comparison. This unit is SMALL. It is smaller than a business card. It's not very thick. This is great for joggers, golfers, and pretty much everyone in the sense of its weight. It won't interfere with what you're doing. You'll barely notice it's there.
The ring - when you press it - lights up with green and red to show how much progress you've made in the current day towards your goal. You with one click at any time you can press it and see how you're doing. It could encourage you to take another walk around the yard to turn it fully green.
Also if you're wearing a heart rate monitor you can have it beep along with your heart for a few pulses, to get a sense of how your heart is doing. That's a nice bonus.
There are no other displays. Everything else is only seen when you log into the online system. You can't "see" the data at all.
The unit is fairly flimsy. We have had three of them now. The first one died on day 8. Probably because we took it into the sauna and, even though the temperature was well within its operating range, it didn't like it. This doesn't bode well for people who live in Arizona and Texas. Our second unit did a bit better - it lasted three weeks. We didn't take the second one into the sauna at all - but it did get two hours a day in the gym with a man who sweats. So probably some sweat got into its unit. The seal between the top and bottom faces is very poor. Moisture can easily get into it.
So now we're on unit three, and I'm wearing it for only light aerobics / Wii dancing. I don't sweat much. So we'll see how it lasts in this situation.
