Pocket Tissue Cover with Contrast Trim

tissue-cover-completedThis new pattern is a variation on my earlier pocket tissue holder tutorial. While the original pattern is attractive and easy to put together, I wanted to find a way to let the pretty coordinating linings show a bit to make them pop a bit more. So, after a little trial and error, I figured out a way to sew the tissue covers so that the lining fabric wraps around the edges of the opening and shows on the front. The inside ends are sealed inside a small French seam so everything is neat and tidy.

I make these in batches because it seems like too much work to dig out the fabric and ironing board for just one. I thread my machine with a neutral color thread and chain sew these, machine assembly fashion. Chain sewing saves a lot of time and thread because you don't have to keep stopping your machine to cut the threads.
