This time out, I have Cynthia Eden's Angel of Darkness (Brava, received from publisher). This one kicks off a new series for her called "The Fallen". Keenan is an angel of death. He is supposed to send human souls to the afterlife. But when a vampire attacks Nicole St. James, Keenan doesn't take her life, but the vampire's instead. The act costs him his wings, sends him into hell. But when he gets out, it doesn't take him long to track down Nicole again, though she's not nearly the same sweet woman whose life he saved. Now she's a vampire, and she's hell-bent on revenge against anyone who was involved in turning her, including someone she knows was there watching and not helping her. Little does she know that someone was Keenan, and finding out the truth may require more forgiving than she has in her. Except the sexy angel just won't go away. Who could possibly resist that? Keenan is sexy, all right, and Nicole is tough and holds a grudge. They're perfect for one another. Only someone wants Keenan back in the fold, and someone else would like him not just Fallen, but dead. Both will do anything they can to protect the other, which might mean one may have to make the ultimate sacrifice. I'm a big fan of Eden's books, though not so much of the angel stories that seem to be taking over where the vampires have left off. This one I liked, though, as much as I'm enjoying Anne Stuart's/Kristina Douglas's series. Eden always has sexy heroes who'll do anything to protect their heroines, and heroines who are more than a match for their heroes. Picking up one of her books is pretty much a guarantee you're in for a great read, and if you're looking for a terrific paranormal romance that isn't the same as too many others, you should definitely grab this one. I'm borrowing four of Cupid's five arrows for this one.
Until next time, happy reading!
