Tinted Beach Honeymoons

You may be surprised to know that beaches come in different colors. Many honeymooners opt for beach getaways when planning that special honeymoon, but you don't have to always go for the tried and true. If you're game for something new, check these out. Some offer on site resorts, while others aren't far away from dreamy honeymoon resorts.

"Destination Weddings," suggests a dozen choices for tinted shores around the world:

Black Magic:
1 - Denarau Beach, Fiji
The 670 acre island offers eight resorts, a golf course and 35 restaurants.
2 - Lafayette Beach, Tahiti
Adjacent to Matavia Bay, where Capt. James Cook anchored in the 18th century, this beach is home to the Radisson Plaza Resort.
3 - Punaluu Beach, Big Island of Hawaii
While this beach isn't really for swimming, it affords a picturesque backdrop for romantic photos.

Postively Pink
4 -Horseshoe Bay Beach, Bermuda
One of the area's most memorable beaches, this four-mile stretch of beach offers beach rentals, a café and tranquil seas along its pink shores.
5 - Pink Sand Beach, Barbuda
Honeymooners in search of privacy should head for this secluded beach located on the southwestern coast between Spanish Point and Palmetto.
6 - Pink Sands Beach, Harbour Island, Bahamas
Lined by a handful of posh resorts, this three-mile soft pink beach beckons with for sunning, swimming or long romantic strolls.

Red Hot
7 - Kaihalulu Beach, Maui, Hawaii
Black lava and red sand combine to make this a very unusual visual backdrop for memorable photos. Swimming is not encouraged, but nude sunbathing is!
8 - Rabida Island, Galapagos, Ecuador
This 1.9 square-mile island is a typical stop on many Galapagos Island cruises. You'll be able to interact with vibrant wildlife, including sea lions, pelicans and marine iguanas. Hiking paths lead to a volcanic crater.
9 - Red Beach, Santorini, Greece
Just a 10 minute walk from Akrotiri, this unusual stretch of beach boasts calm, clear, warm seas and scenic vistas.

Pristine White
10 - Whitehaven Beach, Australia
Always a favorite, Whitehaven is renowned for its four miles of powdery sands, framed by tranquil turquoise seas.
11 - Siesta Beach, Sarasota, Florida
Closer to home, Sarasota consistently comes in first place with beach lovers. Located on a barrier island connected to Sarasota via two bridges, this soft sandy beach is tucked along Florida's Gulf Coast, home to many popular resorts and small inns.
12 - Grace Bay Beach, Turks and Caicos
Picture-perfect and located on a 38-square mile stretch of the Providenciales, this is the Caribbean's proverbial "paradise" of beaches. Everything works here: swimming, scuba diving, sailing, windsurfing and snorkeling. A host of luxury resorts are available for memorable honeymoons.
