This time out, I have the latest from Jill Sorenson, Caught in the Act (Bantam, purchased). Karina Strauss is worrying about her sister, who's dating a drug lord. Then, when she smuggles a young woman named Maria across the border, she meets border agent Adam Cortez. Adam knows she's up to something, but he's not sure what. Then he does a little digging on his own and discovers her connection to the drug lord and comes to the conclusion the something she's up to is illegal. Working his hunch on his own time is strictly against policy, as is getting involved with a woman he suspects is involved in drug smuggling, but he can't seem to stop himself. Karina is way too tempting. She knows Adam is too dangerous for her right now, especially since she's trying to get her sister away from Moreno, but the attraction they share is smoking hot. That she's got an illegal immigrant staying with her is only one part of why she can't indulge the attraction. The other is her friend's boyfriend demanding that Karina make a drug run for him in exchange for her sister. Adam's friend Ian is working on Moreno undercover, and their paths are bound to cross when Ian gets more involved than he intended with Maria, and both investigations get royally screwed up and tangled, leaving everyone involved in very grave danger. This one is action-packed, and steamy, steamy, steamy. Adam knows he's breaking a whole lot of rules with Karina, who just wants to get her sister back safely, though Adam is an enormous distraction to her plans. I really, really enjoyed this one, so I'm borrowing four and a half of Cupid's five arrows for it. I can't wait to find out how Ian and Maria work things out.
Until next time, happy reading!
