Hanging by a Thread - a Review

Imagine this—You are an ordinary teenage girl. Well, ordinary except for one thing. You have inherited this awesome ability, or is it a curse, from your great-great grandmother. You see visions just by touching the clothes that other people have worn. It doesn't matter how long ago they wore the item of clothing, when your fingers touch its fabric, you are overwhelmed with visions.

In Hanging by a Thread, written by Sophie Littlefield, this is the situation that the main character, Clare, finds herself in. I guess one way around this problem would be to avoid touching anyone else's clothes, but that in itself is a problem for Clare. She wants to be a fashion designer. The clothes that she makes are made from clothes that other people have thrown away or are selling for cheap at yard sales, flea markets, etc. So she touches clothing that belongs to others — a lot.

Clare and her mom move back back to the town of Winson, California. From all appearances, it is a peaceful little town. It is the town Clare's mom grew up in, and the town Clare was born in. All should be well, but there is a serial killer in town, which is on high alert because it is almost time for the killer to strike again. Then Clare gets hold of a jacket that causes her to have terrifying visions and convinces her that she has to stop the killer.

Clare is also adjusting to a new set of friends, and a new boyfriend. Is there anyone she can trust? She finds out that everyone has secrets, everyone has things buried in their past.

Sophie Littlefield has written mysteries, thrillers, and horror fiction for adults. This book written for young people is a book that is hard to put down even if you are an adult. Told from the perspective of Clare, you get to see inside the mind of a teenager who has been given a gift that many of us would probably envy. But would such a gift always be a good thing?

I was sent this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. If you would like a copy of this book to read and enjoy yourself, I have provided an Amazon link below.
