The ever-fabulous Joan Jett immortally sang “I love rock 'n' roll!” and it’s highly probable that you’ve sung it too on more than one occasion. Music has the power of putting us in the mood it projects. Similarly, the way we look and the way we present ourselves has an incredible affect over how we feel. Follow these simple steps for a tour-ready look that’s sure to have you feelin' groovy!

This technique adds a heavy splash of drama to the eyelids and lower lash line.

1. Prep the Eyes
Do this with an eyeshadow base or even a cream or liquid foundation. Think about painting a wall, the primer goes on first. By taking this step, you are ensuring that your color stays where you want - it is more vibrant and lasts all night.

*Application Method: Press your concealer brush into the primer and then press the primer onto the eyelid. Smooth the primer across the top lash line first, then blend up toward the crease. Finally, use what’s left on the brush to lightly trace underneath the bottom lash line. Repeat on the opposite eye.

2. Line the Eyes
Do this with your favorite pencil, liquid or gel eyeliner. Perfection is not what we’re going for here, so don’t be shy and don’t be afraid. The look is meant to be defined, but not refined!

*Application Method: Start on the outer corner of the eye. On the top lid, work all the way over to the tear duct. On the bottom lid, concentrate mostly on the outside corner. Repeat on the opposite eye.

3. Shade the Eyes
Do this with any color eyeshadow. Whether it be Jett Black or Bowie Blue, unleash your creativity! My favorite thing about makeup is that it’s removable.

*Application Method: Press your shadow brush into the eyeshadow and then press the shadow onto the eyelid. Keep the brush in contact with the eyelid as much as possible to avoid shadow sprinkles under the eye. You want the shadow to go where the primer was applied. Before moving on to the other eye, and without adding additional color to the brush, softly trace the outside corner of the bottom lash line. With a very light hand, trying only to tickle the bottom lash line with the brush, make your way toward the inside corner. The goal is to blend the outer corner and create a blur under the eye. Repeat on the opposite eye.

4. Finish the Look
Do this however you are inspired to - maybe the look is already finished. Maybe you want to add bright pink lipstick. Maybe even repeat part of the technique using an additional color. Whatever you do, do it with confidence and do it with purpose.
