With all of the electronic devices available from home computers to our applications loaded cellular phones we can find ourselves using hours of time online. Some of the activities that we can engage in our valuable and necessary while others can consume huge amounts of time that can eat away at the remaining hours of our day.
Activities that we can perform with our mobile devices that make our lives run more efficiently while on the go include online banking allowing us to manage our money by moving funds around as necessary avoiding overdraft fees. There are other applications that allow us to keep an eye on auction bids or new items that are listed in our predetermined saved searches which allow us the opportunity to obtain hard to find items.
Staying connected to our favorite restaurants or retail outlets via our mobile devices will keep us informed of new promotions or sales, giving us the option of taking advantage of these products or services discounts. We are also able to stay connected to friends and family through texting and sending photos as we travel along through our daily activities enabling us to share exciting moments or send encouraging words.
There are other online activities that we can find ourselves spending countless hours without realizing the amount of hours spent. Activities that include social media which have access to online chatting can be very easily overused and can absorb hours of our time. There are numerous online meeting sites, dating sites, social groups and online gaming that can almost be considered addicting. There have been research conducted that shows how different age groups are being negatively affected including lack of sleep because of spending most of the night on these internet sites. Continuous lack of sleep or sleep deprivation can be harmful to your overall health. Young individuals that have minimal sleep nightly will have a hard time concentrating in school. Adults that lack sleep will have diminished energy and focus at work performing at lower level.
We have to take responsibility to protect and maximize the hours that we are given each day. To stay on target make a schedule of the things you have to accomplish, pending actions and time available to spend online connecting with friends, family and building business relationships and stick to it. Keeping track of our time on a daily basis will allow us to see if we are beginning to fall into negative actions of repeatedly abusing time and give us the opportunity to make positive corrective measures.
