Dorrity, an author herself, loves to read and review books and when considering her first book to compile her blog reviews in, she decided to add her love of food and include recipes in the mix. Her methodology of combining reading with eating is what she calls on her blog reating.
Her unique styling of matching a recipe to the books she reads is as enjoyable as the books themselves. If you enjoy reading books in the genres young adult (YA), paranormal, historical fiction and more, you will find books to fill your book shelf and recipes to fill your belly, to say nothing of feeding your soul as well.
The first compilation of Christy’s, The 2011 Book Blogger’s Cookbook, includes a forward by author Amanda Hocking (Trylle Trilogy). She shares her thoughts on book bloggers. "Book Bloggers Rule!" She shares how book bloggers saved her life, moving her book sales up in the matter of months from 600 sales to over 4,000 sales a month.
Bloggers do make a difference and have a lot of influence in different industries. Dorrity gives fellow book bloggers their due and shares their review of her favorite books shared. Each chapter includes a featured book, a description of the book, Christy Dorrity’s thoughts on the book and why she chose the recipe she is sharing in relationship to the book, its title or its characters. She ends with snippets of reviews for the featured title from other book bloggers with links to their blogs. Images of the book cover and finished dish are included as well.
A shared scene from each book outside of just the book description would be nice. Otherwise her cookbooks are short, sweet, and the perfect gift for a blogger, foodie or bookworm. She has great attention to detail and even pairs up a few of her recipes, recommending one to go good with another here and there.
In addition to blogging and cooking Dorrity is compiling her next cookbook, The 2013 Book Blogger’s Cookbook, set to be released in the spring of 2013.
