Disney Junior’s pirate themed show, Jake and the Never Land Pirates, will have your child talking like a pirate in no time! Featuring three fun- loving kid pirates and the ever- present villain, Captain Hook and Smee, this show is always full of adventure.
Jake is the kid- pirate captain of the bunch. He’s smart and friendly, and always ready to help a friend. With him are his friends Izzy, the only girl pirate, and Cubby, another pirate pal. Their parrot friend Skully is usually around to help with whatever the kids have going on as well. The crew is always on the search for treasure, with their trusty ship Bucky, who appears to have some abilities of his own.
In each episode, as the kids play or seek out treasure, Captain Hook is never far away with his band of pirate thieves- Smee, his first mate, Sharky, and Bones. Also creating mischief is Tick- Tock the crocodile. You may remember Captain Hook, Smee, and Tick- Tock from Disney’s Peter Pan franchise; these characters are one and the same. References to different aspects of the franchise are mentioned in various episodes as well, and in the episodes “Jake Saves Bucky” and “Peter Pan Returns”, Peter Pan himself makes an appearance.
Whatever the kids are after, Captain Hook decides its treasure and he must have it- often at the expense of the land and sea creatures nearby. With quick thinking and teamwork, the kids are always able to thwart Hook’s plans and save the day.
Throughout the show, whenever the kids solve a pirate problem together, they receive gold doubloons to add tot heir treasure chest. The chest only opens when they sing a magical song, which they do at the end of every episode. Additionally, when emergencies arise that call for it, Izzy has a supply of pixie dust that she can use to make the kids or other objects fly. We learn that she received it as a gift from Tinker Bell and her friends the fairies.
If you have a child, boy or girl, who is even remotely interested in pirating adventures, Jake and the Never Land Pirates is sure to be a hit. With their many catch phrases, playful tunes, and fun adventures, it’s certain to keep your 3-6 year olds entertained.
