The science fiction world of Perfection Unleashed has undergone a Genetic Revolution. Now along with regular humans there are in vitros, clones, and mutants, but its not an entirely peaceful coexistence. The Mutant Advisory council is in place to keep tabs on these derivatives, especially those with powerful abilities like alpha empath Danyael Sabre. He spent years breaking free of his painful childhood and wants nothing more than to be left alone and live a life as close to normal as he can. But that may not be possible after he meets Galahad.
Pioneer labs has created Galahad, his genome carefully designed to produce the perfect human. He is kept locked away at a research facility, experimented on like a lab animal with minimal contact with the outside world. When a beautiful mercenary named Zara breaks into the lab and kidnaps him all hell breaks loose.
Perfection Unleashed is a nice blend of science fiction action and philosophy. Even though the characters seemed on average to be more archetypical than individual (the beautiful mercenary, the troubled outcast, the playboy millionaire), I still found them interesting and engaging. And while there were a few plot points that seemed to wrap up a little too suddenly and neatly, overall the story was gripping and satisfying.
I was pleasantly surprised by Perfection Unleashed by Jade Kerrion and look forward to future stories of the Genetic Revolution in the rest of her Double Helix series. I recommend Perfection Unleashed if you're in the mood for action/adventure science fiction.
