ABC Familyís 13 Nights of Halloween

Once again, ABC Family is sponsoring 13 nights of Halloween specials for your enjoyment! Some of the specials are great for the entire family; others may be more appropriate for teens or adults. On the weekends, there will be a sprinkling of Halloween themed movies throughout the entire day, along with featured specials (listed below) in the evening. Hereís an overview of the shows theyíll be airing and when, along with what ages theyíre most appropriate for:

October 19th
The Addams Family and Addams Family Values- appropriate for all ages, although younger kids may not stay interested or understand all of the humor.

October 20th
Halloween Blockbuster Marathon and Hocus Pocus- A day full of blockbuster movies including The Little Vampire and Teen Witch. School aged children and older should enjoy these. Hocus Pocus follows trick- or- treaters as they come face to face with three real witches. Again, school aged children and older should find this entertaining.

October 21st
Tim Burton Movie Marathon- that master of semi-scary but really good films is featured all day! Includes titles like The Nightmare Before Christmas, Beetlejuice, and Coraline. The animated movies are okay for kids (although parts of Coraline and the Corpse Bride may be scary for the younger ones). Save Beetlejuice for your preteens and older.

October 22nd
Switched at Birth Fall Finale and Practical Magic- both better suited for preteen/ teen and above.

October 23rd
Pretty Little Liars Marathon and Pretty Little Liars Halloween Special- again, better suited for teen and above.

October 24th
Scooby Doo and Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed- appropriate for all ages, although your preschoolers probably wonít stay engaged long since itís not animated.

October 25th
The Addams Family and Addams Family Values- see Oct. 19th.

October 26th
Practical Magic and Matilda- Practical Magic is a good movie that teens and older would find entertaining. Matilda is fun for the whole family, and school aged children will particularly enjoy her talents!

October 27th
Halloween Blockbuster Marathon and Monster House Premiere- once again, a day filled with blockbuster movies that are magic or Halloween themed. Monster House is a great family movie, although parts may be a little scary for your young gradeschoolers and preschoolers.

October 28th
Halloween Blockbuster Marathon and The Sorcererís Apprentice- for the marathon, please see the description above (Oct. 20th or 28th). The Sorcererís Apprentice- probably appropriate for preteens and older. Some gradeschool aged children may find it entertaining, but itís not animated, so youíll probably lose the younger ones after a few minutes.

October 29th
The Mummy- definitely a movie better suited for preteens and above. Parts will definitely be scary for your younger kids.

October 30th
Edward Scissorhands- again, better suited for preteens and above.

October 31st
Halloween Blockbuster Marathon and Hocus Pocus- see description under Oct. 20th.

So there you have it- 13 fun- filled days of Halloween themed specials! As always, you know your kids best- so donítí go purely by my suggestions. Some movies may be fine for your kids, and some may not- use your personal discretion. Most of all, enjoy!
