Generous Genealogists is a great new website that practices the spirit of volunteerism. “Stated most simply, we are a community of volunteers who agree to provide free genealogy research and assistance, as an act of kindness, to “those in need.” But, that simple statement does not define us totally. We are a vibrant, vital and growing community teaching and helping each other in the best methods and traditions of the genealogists of today, yesterday and hopefully tomorrow” Some of you may recall the website, Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness (RAOGK) which is no longer an active site; this website helps researchers much as this website did, but also has a lot more to offer.

Another very important part of this website is the Volunteering section. They invite you to sign up and take advantage of their volunteering opportunities. Is there something one of their volunteers can help you with? Visit their website and ask for some help. The help is free unless they are asked to print things off and/or mail to you. All labor is done freely. Do you have time to volunteer some of your skills or resources; they would love to have you join their volunteer team.

Generous Genealogists also have a Wiki page. Their website states, “As our ‘Helping others- Find the past’ title hopefully indicates, our Wiki exists to document and share information on “how-to” conduct and manage genealogy research. This Wiki also serves as the platform for documenting our 'collective' preferences regarding the conduct of genealogy work. We will maintain this Wiki as an independent and distinct component of the total Generous Genealogists community.”

Some of you have asked how you can help Generous Genealogist. Volunteering is a huge part of helping, but for those who have the extra finances and can help, you can also donate to help by donating a the Fund GenerousGenealogists website! All monies go directly to the Generous Genealogists website and its maintenance.
