Social Marketing Your Book App

Word of mouth is the best way to get the word out about your book app or brand. Cross marketing on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Flickr and YouTube is a great way to build a fan base. Once you have a personal Facebook account, you can create a special Fan Page for your book app or brand. Your Facebook Fan Page Timeline Cover and Profile graphic should showcase your book app or you as an artist and author. You can also have Facebook App pages (also called tab pages) to integrate your other social networking sites with your Facebook Fan Page Timeline.

Facebook Fan Page Timeline

The Facebook Fan Page Timeline has a large Cover image that's great for showcasing a screenshot from your book app or a collage of the characters from the story. The Timeline is where you will interact with your readers and keep them up to date with announcements about your book app or brand such as reviews, promos, special activities and downloads from your website.

Facebook App (Tab) Pages

Another feature of the Facebook Timeline are the custom apps (or tabs) that work as links to additional pages attached to your Timeline. These pages are great for marketing your book app. Create a page for displaying your YouTubeTM video book trailers, a photo album of screenshots from your app, a newsletter signup form, promotions, events calendar or the popular Fan Gate page where the visitor can LIKE your Fan page to gain access to "fans only" content.

The following Facebook App pages can be used to promote your book app. You will want custom thumbnails images for each page. This thumbnails will be displayed directly under your Fan Page Timeline cover image.

  1. Fan Gate App Page

    A Fan Gate, sometimes called a Welcome page, is two pages in one and specially design with a "call to action" to LIKE your fan page. The first page view is for non-fans and displays the call to action. Once the visitor LIKES your fan page, the second page view is displayed. This page usually contains special fans only content such as a product coupon, free promo code, special downloads or just about anything. You can create a Fan Gate App page with a free Involver1 or WooBox2 account.

  2. Twitter App Page

    Displaying your Twitter tweets on your Facebook App page is a great way to cross promote your book app. This is also available with a free Involver1 or WooBox2 account.

  3. Your YouTube Channel App Page

    You've worked very hard on your book app trailers but YouTube isn't the only place your visitors can view them. With this Facebook App page you can display all the videos uploaded to your YouTube channel. You will need a free Involver1 account.

    4. FeedBurner or Other RSS Feed App Page

    If you have a website or blog that generates an RSS feed, you can integrate your FeedBurner3 or other RSS feed into a Facebook App page. You will need a free Involver1 account.

  4. Pinterest App Page

    If you have a Pinterest4 account, you can integrate your pins feed into a Facebook App page. You will need a free WooBox2 account.

  5. Flickr App Page

    If you have a Flickr account, you can integrate your Flickr feed into a Facebook App page. You will need a free WooBox2 account.

What we need . . .

  • Twitter, Pinterest, RSS feed, Flickr and YouTube accounts (depending on your choice of Facebook App pages)
  • Involver and/or WooBox account (depending on your choice of Facebook App pages)
  • Screenshots or other images from your book app for your Photos tab.
  • Application Icon to be used as the Profile Image of your Fan page.
  • Your choice of graphics to be used as thumbnail and background images for your Facebook Timeline and App pages
