I sat down this morning and decided to have a cup of tea. No ordinary cup though! It was cinnamon, hibiscus, chamomile and orange.

The orange was the topper for this brew. I must admit it was a morning for experimenting.

I used crushed cinnamon bark, hibiscus flower, chamomile flower and orange rind. I put everything into a tea bag and tossed it into a cup of hot water. The aroma was mesmerizing!

Of course I had to put it to the test as a perfume oil, so I pulled these beauties out of my essential oil pantry. Surely if it works as a tea, it will work as a perfume. Right? I made two versions of this oil, one with sandalwood and one with vanilla.

The verdict is still out on which one I like best. The ingredient that intrigued me the most is the orange oil.

Orange oil is sweet, sensuous, alive and uplifting. When your world gets to serious, orange oil can help you relax, stay calm and regenerate. It's an energy booster and works well with Lemon essential oil.

It's been said that Lemon oil represents the masculine, aiding in concentration and refreshing your spirit. Orange oil on the other hand represents the feminine powers, strengthening your heart and soul, making you feel as though you want to give the world a big hug.

Where Does The Orange Oil Come From?

Orange essential oil is located in the outer portion of the skin. The orange tree itself gives you three different essential oils.

The orange found in the skin is what you know as the traditional orange oil. The oil found in the blossoms is what's known as Neroli oil and the oil found in the branches and leaves in known as Petitgrain.

How is Orange Oil Used?

Orange oil is a favorite in the kitchen. You'll often find it in cakes, ice cream and cookies. It makes a great sauce when paired with duck, Duck a l'Orange.

One of the best-known places for orange oil is in furniture polish for wood. As protection against wood damage, orange oil is often mixed with linseed oil. Mixed with a little jojoba oil, orange oil gives the perfect compliment to wood furniture and instruments.

Whether it's in the kitchen or in a perfume, orange oil is great a great addition to your pantry.
