St. Patrickís Day traditionally is a day that we celebrate luck. Itís often accompanied by sayings such as The Luck of the Irish and by Irish Blessings and stories about St. Patrick driving the snakes out of Ireland back in the day. So how do these traditions apply to our relationships and this holiday now?
Letís begin with LUCK. Well, obviously we all hope to be Lucky In Love and Life. Thatís a given, even though itís not always the case. However, thereís nothing wrong with keeping an open mind; and having a positive attitude toward any goal is always a good way to proceed toward reaching it. Looking for Luck is something many of us do on St. Patrick's Day and Looking for Love is also something many people do on St. Patrick's Day as well.
I must confess Iíve never seen a Leprechaun but Iím not sure that matters because according to myth they donít seem to be very willing to share their gold and donít seem to inspire love. So I think Iíd rather spend my time in more productive ways than trying to catch one of these mischief making little guys by following them over some imaginary rainbow. Unfortunately, you must admit, there seem to be a lot of relationship partners who are somewhat like mythical Leprechauns. They want you to follow them everywhere, like over a mythical rainbow, and they promise you anything to get you there, only to find that theyíve lied to you about many things including that they donít have a pot of gold. Well, they are obviously not Leprechauns but they may be like the snakes that St. Patrick was said to have driven out of Ireland in legend and lore. Perhaps in honor of the day, you might want to ignore anyone in your life who acts like a snake in the grass, symbolic of the story of St. Patrick driving the snakes out of Ireland. This is probably easier said then done; but it is a potential solution to dealing with the annoying people in your life.
In truth, good fortune can shine on each and every one of us on any given day and at that time we often consider it the arrival of LUCK. However, many people believe that you make your own luck by the attitudes you have and the actions you take. No matter what the case, when St. Patrickís Day arrives each year, itís always fun to believe in the magical and to have fun with the mythical, to be given an Irish Blessing and to smile because in the words of the song, when youíre smiling, the whole world smiles with you.
Have a safe and happy holiday overflowing with LUCK! Until next time, have a warm heart but be COOL! Be happy, be well, and be the best you that you can be!
