Cuissential SlickScale Food Scale

The Cuissential SlickScale Food Scale is a tablet-sized, flat-topped scale that handles both grams and ounces. How well does it work?

First, the basics. The unit is about 5 1/2 inches wide by 7 1/2 inches long by a half inch high. It's slim and easy to tuck into a drawer. Also, the top is completely flat. That makes it super-easy to clean. So it definitely gets kudos for both of those points.

It starts up fairly quickly - you have to wait for lines to spiral around for a second or so before you can use it. Then you simply put an item on it and get its weight. You can zero the scale, so if you want to first put on a bowl, zero it with a bowl, then add in your items, you can do that.

There's also the ability to have it tell you the volume of milk or water used based on its weight. So instead of having to peer at the side of a measuring cup to figure out how much milk or water you're using, you can weigh it precisely

I like that it cleans so easily. I don't really use the milk or water features but I'm sure some people might find that quite important in their lifestyle. For me it's all about the grams and ounces. I run a low carb site, and I also ship a lot of items out in the mail every day, so having an accurate scale is important to me.

That brings me to the main reason I dropped this down by a star. The button to change between ounces and grams is a plastic press-in toggle on the bottom of the unit! I can't see that standing up to a lot of use, and why is it on the bottom? I use that all the time and it's a pain to keep lifting the unit and pressing something underneath it. That really should have been a button on the unit's top.

Still, besides that one issue, the scale is good. It's easy to use. Easy to clean. It doesn't take up a lot of space.

I received a review copy of this scale from Cuissential in order to do this review.
